Moonlight snowboarding/ backwoods camping

Tahoe may be a bit warmer then most ski areas, but it still has it’s pockets where the snow stays good. Here we are staying out at a little shack in the middle of the woods. We rolled in at dark and after dinner went up for a couple moonlight runs. The headlamps in the video are just to give you some idea of us moving through the pow in the dark, but we were riding by moonlight, not headlamps. After a couple runs we wound down the night with a big bonfire that is always entertaining. The next day was an awesome pow day, but it was also storming pretty hard. The wind loaded a couple bowls and avalanche danger was up, so we had to be fairly cautious. It was an awesome trip and look forward to doing it again sometime soon.

Feb. backcountry

Now that the Olympic qualifiers are all done I have time to do what I really have been looking forward to and that is riding the Tahoe backcountry. The mountains here are so amazing and have so much to offer. Really stoked to finally put some time in at home shredding.

The last Grand Prix

What a grueling fight to the end it always is with the Grand Prix Olympic years! Never seen injuries like I did this year, but I survived the battle so I’m pretty stoked. Hats off to White, Lago, Vito, and Bretz for making the Olympic Team. It is a great experience. It was a pretty good final show down in Park City. Constant snow falling made the pipe a bit more challenging, but also a bit more mystical. My last run was the most tech I put down all season. Front 720, cab 1080, indy, back 900, front 1080. Great way to finish out the Grand prix. Shout out to JJ Thomas for givin the young bucks a run for their money! Holiday recap

This Christmas and New Years was one of the mellower ones I have ever had, but much needed. Great time to sit back and just thank God for all his blessings. Had some family up to our house, rode a couple days of pow, couple days of park, and a couple days getting my dad back on a snowboard. Northstars park is super fun right now, nothing big so no tourist get destroyed, but I am sure that will change shortly. Here is a new video I put together using my new GOPRO HD. These cameras are awesome. I have some more camera angles to try out coming up. So stay tuned!

Holy winter Coldness! Highs of 8 and lows of -20, not cool, cold. So cold it did not snow at all as the storms past thru.

Holy Big Waves!

Just got back from surfing in Nor Northern Cali. The forcast was big, but this time it really was big. I took my 6′8″ rounded pin out which has always gotten me into the waves, and I was a bit under gunned this trip. I was very impressed with what Nor Cal had to offer as far as waves, but the locals said it was rare to see the waves clean like it was when it gets that big. I paddled out the seconed session with Pastor Mike from a church in Fortuna. I must say that is a first to paddle out with a pastor especially in waves that big. He was a ripper! I was stoked. He also had a super fun 8 foot mini vert ramp. Beautiful up there. I also had one of the funnest drives I have ever had on Highway 36. Not a drive for someone with a week stomach, or even a semi weeks stomach. Check my photos for additional shots.
