wanted to give you a little update on what went down yesterday at Northstar. Andy was looking amazing all morning during practice and had no problem moving onto the finals with a solid first place qualification. All the guys were throwing down, but Andy was definently the crowd favorite, not only being a local, but also because he going HUGE! The announcer kept commenting on "the wow" factor that Andy showed the crowd and how fun it was to watch him ride, he put on quite the show. His first run had a great mix of tricks and big air, but got a little wobbly on the last landing. His second run consisted of a once in a lifetime "trick gone bad!" As he claims it, he was going for a 1080, but had so much speed and got thrown too vert and so he went to pop off the lip and lay out to somewhat slow down his trick (and try to survive it!) and it turned out looking like a hawken flip/michael chuck/ highest air that made the whole crowd gasp! he luckily pulled it, but gave everyone quite the scare, the judges gave him an extra $500 bonus right than and there, i suppose because they were so impressed that he lived through a death defying, yet almost inventive manuever! His last run was solid and looked great, but Andy did not do that back to back 1080s that is supposedly the new rage. So, he came out in 4th place, with a 1st for highest air (though if they were really going by the rules, he would have recieved the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for the highest air!) All in all the day went great and everyone was out there having fun. Danny Kass recieved first place with Luie Vitto getting second and Juri in 3rd. Although I heard from the judges themselves that they had a very hard time deciding if andy should have been in 3rd or 4th. I give him a gold star either way for his awesome performance!!

Jeep Event at Squaw PDF Print E-mail

Andy did great yesterday at the King of the Hill Jeep event at Squaw Valley.  He made qualies no problem, and finals were intense between him, Luke Matroni (also a Collection Team rider) and Louie Vitto. Andy was in first by a .2 lead ahead of Louie and Andy stomped a good clean run including back to back 10s and huge air.  Louie than pulled off a clean run with one extra nine, didn't go quite as big as Andy, but it was enough to take the lead. Andy got second and Luke Matroni third. All and all it was a fun event, a beautiful sunny day and I think days like this help remind Andy why he loves what he does.
